About Christina Johnson
Christina held the position of Rehearsal Director for Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, Washington Ballet, Armitage Gone! Dance, Trey Mclntyre Project and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. She was on faculty at Marin Ballet in San Rafael, CA, and was Adjunct Faculty at Dominican University in the LINES/Dominican BFA in Dance Program. Sought after as a teacher and coach, Christina works with dance schools, universities and professional dance companies across the country. She is a master teacher and judge for dance competitions, such as Universal Ballet Competition, American Dance Competition International Ballet Competition and Revel Dance Convention. Christina is featured in two recently released books, the first by Misty Copeland “Black Ballerinas: My Journey to Our Legacy” and also in “Dance Theatre of Harlem: A History, A Movement, Celebration.” Christina plays a leading role in Misty Copeland's film, "Flower" which premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival. Christina holds a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from Hollins University in collaboration with the American Dance Festival, The Forsythe Company and Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts in Germany.

About John Harnage
John, a native of Miami, Florida, studied dance at the Miami City Ballet School and New World School of the Arts. He was a Modern Dance Finalist in the 2010 National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts YoungArts competition. In 2014 he graduated from The Juilliard School, where he performed works by Pina Bausch, Alexander Ekman, Jose Limón, and Lar Lubovitch, among others. He then began working with Jessica Lang Dance, and joined the company in 2015, performing and teaching around the world. He also performed as a principal dancer in Washington National Opera’s 2017 production of Aida at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Mr. Harnage joined the Paul Taylor Dance Company in Fall 2018. John was the male dancer, opposite Samantha Hope Galler in the Miami City Ballet collaboration with Paul Taylor Dance Company, “Viva” choreographed by Amy Hall Garner and debuted in April 2021.

Participating Artists
Aeon De La Cruz & Nicole Pedraza
Nicole and Aeon met at Adele Myer's and Dancer's commissioned Miami Dance Makers program, and instantly connected through their commonly sensitive, yet visceral approach to dissecting dance and cultural adversities. They developed a personal training practice independently of the companies they work with, which included experimenting with ballet, motion-sensing technology, and at Aeon's original dance workshop, Query. In 2023 they collaborated on the environmentally focused short dance film, Caracoles en Cemento, which was screened at Subculture Film Festival, Festival Videodanza de Puerto Rico, and Screen Dance Miami in 2024.
Aly Tejas (Masterclass Pianist)
Aly Tejas is an internationally renowned piano accompanist with more than 30 years of experience in the world of ballet. Born in Cuba, Aly trained from a very young age to be a part of this wonderful world where music and movement converge, a world which became her life’s greatest passion. Aly has accompanied thousands of ballet professors across the globe and traveled to multiple countries to participate in international ballet competitions, auditions, and master classes.

Ballet Flamenco La Rosa
Ballet Flamenco La Rosa (BFLR) is an International professional company dedicated to Flamenco as an ever-evolving art form. The innovative and creative artists of BFLR, under the Artistic Direction of founder Ilisa Rosal, present Flamenco dance in a theatrical setting - expanding the art form beyond traditional limits to reach and enlighten students and audiences with its beauty and magic. The dancers and musicians of BFLR are creators. The combination of sophisticated theatre, traditional Flamenco and original choreography allows the company to present a consummate theatre experience. Their continuing quest to create new artistic forms is furthered by intricate collaborative works. This ground breaking approach traces the connection between Flamenco and other styles of dance and music, exploring the common elements and developing new dance forms. These collaborations, from Jazz, Tap, Blues and American Country Music, to Middle Eastern, Afro-Cuban, Afro-Haitian, African, Sefardic, Indian Dance and Celtic Music and Dance, offer the community the opportunity to see different cultures' art forms taken to new heights.
Ballet Vero Beach
Ballet Vero Beach was founded January 1, 2013. They are the only professional ballet company in their region, and represent the first professional ballet company located in Vero Beach. Throughout their short history, they have gained a reputation for innovative and dynamic programming. They regularly collaborate with the area’s major cultural institutions: the Vero Beach Museum of Art and Riverside Theatre, and have been recognized for the quality of our productions by The George Balanchine Trust, master choreographer Peter Anastos, and The Estate of Samuel Kurkjian. Ballet Vero Beach’s work will be guided by our commitments to artistic quality, community engagement, and cultural relevance.
Chachi Perez and Carne Viva Dance Theatre
Chachi Perez is the founder of Carne Viva Dance Theatre, a vibrant and flavorful Lenape Land (Philadelphia) based collective of artivists de aqui y de alla committed to culture as liberation, and their bodies as an act of rebellion. We create intimate, erotic, and playful works that honor our collective stories, and celebrate our identities. We collide our Afro-Cuban influences, street dance, and Modern improvisational practices to cultivate a compelling kaleidoscope of rhythm, movement, and storytelling to pull you into the next dimension through dance, theatre, text, and original sounds to awaken our audiences.
Christina Johnson (International Master Instructor)
Christina Johnson’s career began at age seventeen with Boston Ballet. Two years later she joined Dance Theatre of Harlem where she reached the rank of principal dancer within four years and had a 13-year tenure there. Christina is a founding member of Complexions Contemporary Ballet and has been a featured guest artist with various companies worldwide, including the Royal Ballet of London, where she and her dance partner, Ronald Perry, were the first African-American couple in its history to perform leading roles with the company. She danced in Switzerland for seven years, first with Le Ballet du Grand Theatre de Geneve and then Ballett Basel.

Clarita Filgueiras
Clarita Filgueiras has a deep-rooted connection to Flamenco, inherited from her father and grandmother, and nurtured by her own passion. She has established herself as one of the top Flamenco dancers in the United States working with artists such as the Gypsy Kings, Carlota Santana Flamenco - Vivo Dance Company and performing in Miami for over three decades. Clarita has studied bata de cola, “long train dress,” with the Master of bata de cola, Milagros Mengibar, in Sevilla, Spain, and has become a highly regarded exponent of this unique art form. She established her company, Flamenco Puro, staying attuned to Flamenco’s contemporary evolution and stands as a beacon of Flamenco excellence, bridging cultures, preserving tradition, and propelling the art form forward with her talent, dedication, and vision.
Dance NOW! Miami
Dance NOW! Miami, the leading contemporary dance company in Florida was founded in 2000 by Artistic Directors Hannah Baumgarten and Diego Salterini. The artistic work of the company is based in their two-decades long investigation and fusion of ballet, modern, and jazz dance styles, now recognized around the world as contemporary dance. The company serves as a model for collaboration and entrepreneurship headed by two individuals from different continents who intersected and made Miami their home, creating an organization that now leads the South Florida dance community.
Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami
Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami was founded in 2016 by former Miami City Ballet principal dancers Carlos Guerra and Jennifer Kronenberg. Carlos and Jennifer offer audiences a fresh and diverse view of ballet through their direction of Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami, exploring collaborative avenues that are distinct in their reflection of South Florida. Drawing on 50+ years of cumulative experience working with many of today's most celebrated international choreographers and directors, the two bring a unique & promising perspective. Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami seeks to connect with residents of South Florida and familiarize them with the ever evolving depth and relevance of the ballet art form; enriching their lives through accessible performances of the highest quality which emphasize ballet’s vast stylistic range and its significance as a part of American arts and culture. The organization fosters and creates professional opportunities for both local and performing artists from abroad. Local ballet students of an advanced pre-professional level are offered educational and performance opportunities through an apprenticeship program which allows them to collaborate and learn directly from experienced professionals. The resulting creations are presented for the enjoyment and cultural advancement of the greater South Florida community. Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami interacts with Miami’s youth by creating a variety of outreach programs including community youth classes in conjunction with particular performances, children & family educational presentations and demonstrations, and after-school workshop classes for public school students.
Emily Ricca Dance
Emily Ricca is a freelance ballerina dancing professionally for companies throughout the U.S and Europe. Miss Ricca was a guest artist in Paris, France dancing with the legendary Michael Denard of the Paris Opera Ballet excerpts from Swan Lake, Giselle, and Raymonda. In 2011, she started the RomanceProject, an informative and engaging live music and dance performance for all ages. Currently Miss Ricca is bringing this unique ballet performance to independent, memory care, and assisted living facilities. While continuing as a guest artist, she created, choreographed and produced Emily Dance Thru Time, a film that was part of the One@SRT project designed for solo artists during COVID pandemic. Locally, she has worked with the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, Armour Dance Theatre, Daniel Lewis Dance Sampler, and Florida Grand Opera as instructor, creator and performer.
John Harnage (Paul Taylor Dance Company)

Junior Domingos
Junior Domingos is a Brazilian Artist, choreographer, instructor and dancer. He is trained in a variety of physical movements including Circus techniques , Ballet, Modern Dance ,Jazz, Contemporary,Ballroom and Capoeira. Junior has danced for Cia, Claudia de Souza and Grupo Raça while traveling throughout Brazil. While he lived in São Paulo, he participated in the choreography of Béjart Ballet Lausanne's "Boléro." He also worked with Ismael Ivo in Vienna, Austria for the show "No Sacre" at ImpulsTanz and São Paulo. Junior currently resides in Miami, was part of MDM (Miami Dance Makers) 2023 by Adele Mayers, he was selected for “Here and Now” 2024 by Miami Light Project and he is currently part of the “Pioneer Winter Collective” by Pioneer Winter as a creator and dancer.
Karen Peterson and Dancers
KPD is Florida’s only full-time dance organization that features choreography performed by dancers with and without disabilities and has been a role model for the artistic and disability communities in Miami Dade County for twenty-nine years. Under the dedicated direction of Artistic Director Karen Peterson, the company provides educational programming for students with special needs and provides inclusive rehearsal, performance and touring opportunities for adult professional dancers and choreographers with diverse abilities. The organization provides a positive “can-do” role model for both the disability and dance communities through education and outreach and maintains a high quality of an artistic product. Artistic Director and Founder of KPD, Karen Peterson has won multiple dance fellowship awards, two from the State and two from Miami Dade Cultural Affairs, for her choreographic vision. She shares her tradition and knowledge of contemporary, conservatory dance training with individuals, who despite their difference have a professional and artistic desire to create and perform. It is the collaborative and creative spirit within the two populations that makes this art form possible.
Pioneer Winter Collective
Pioneer Winter (he/they, b. 1987) is a Miami-based choreographer and artistic director of Pioneer Winter Collective, an intergenerational and physically integrated dance-theater company, rooted in social practice and community, queer visibility and beauty beyond the mainstream. Recognized in Dance Magazine's 25 to Watch, Pioneer Winter's work democratizes performance in public spaces, museums and galleries, stage, and film. A major objective continues to be expanding the definition of all that dance is and can be so that all bodies survive, thrive, and are witnessed in spite of constant erasure based upon race, body type, age, and ability - this goes for both the artists as well as the audience. Pioneer has been commissioned by Miami Theater Center, Karen Peterson and Dancers, Tigertail Productions, Jacksonville Dance Theatre, FundArte, and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, where Pioneer was the Center's first Artist-in-Resident collaboration in a decade (2019-21).
Randolph Ward/RTW Dance
Born and raised in Miami, FL, Randolph’s love of dance and teaching began here. The Thomas Armour Youth Ballet, New World School of the Arts, Miami City Ballet School, and the San Francisco Ballet School laid the foundation for a 15-year career that has taken him across the United States, through Europe and Asia. From 2011-2017, Mr. Ward was a soloist with the Saarländisches Staatstheater I Saarbrücken, Germany. He also created a new work for Dimensions Dance Theater of Miami’s 2019 Lab Theater Series entitled “What makes a man?”. Randolph Ward is the creator, producer, and choreographer of A Vogue Extravaganza. Mr. Ward is a 2019-2020 Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Choreographs’ (DMC) Award recipient.
Reshma Anwar
Born and raised in Leipzig, Germany, Reshma was commissioned to choreograph a solo, "Diversity," for the 50th anniversary of Leipziger Tanztheater. She graduated from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia and also attended The Ailey School in New York City. During the Summer, she volunteered to teach dance in Jamaica and Haiti, as well at the Lotushouse Miami. While living in New York City, she worked with Nathan Trice on The Recognizing Women Project and with Jacqueline Buglisi on the Table of Silence. In Miami, she has worked with Peter London Global Dance, Augusto Soledade Brazzdance, Pioneer Winter Collective, Alma Dance Theater and NWD Projects. She holds a Master of Public Administration from the London School of Economics and Political Science and has started off her Public Policy career at the European Commission and United Nations amongst other organizations. Most recently, she premiered her dance film “Rebirth” at Screendance 2024. Her piece “Time is a Construct” was created as part of the Miami Dance Maker program in 2023.
Syncopate Collective
Syncopate Collective is a collaborative group of diverse multidisciplinary artists that aims to provide a safe, supportive, and experimental environment for professional dance artists to share their creations with the community at large. Our primary mission is to forge a unifying identity in this unique city by coalescing the various crafts of professional dancers, choreographers, and filmmakers. With creation and collaboration at the forefront of our purpose, Sanctuary of the Arts is our homebase. We curate distinct performances and weekly open classes for all levels offered to the community. Through live performance, film, and open classes, we aim to inspire future generations to view Miami as a place for artistic development and enrichment.
